We are not always in control of everything that happens in our lives. If we are, the PESTEL framework would not have existed. The global financial turmoil would only affect those *people* and not us, the Tom, Dick and Harry...
Our lives are also in the hands of the society. How often do we read stories of young, bright students, scoring excellent results in the public exams, with hopes of becoming a doctor. However, a hope remains a hope. He/she never had a chance to continue on higher education due to lack of funds...
"Pa, I think I want to study Law."
"Are you sure? If you want to become a lawyer, you would have to go for the UOL 3+0 external programme. That one's hard. You know (inserts name), he only managed a mere pass for his Year 3 subjects. Mind you, he is used to be a (inserts name of some prestigious organization) scholarship holder. Studied in Singapore during his secondary school days and got (inserts a brilliant academic result) for his O-Levels. If he gets a mere pass, what makes you think you can get through it with an ease?"
-Silence-"Fine. Law's out."

Just a random thought that passed through my head after reading Yvonne Foong's blog.
Off to slumber land. MKT2012 will wait till tomorrow.
